Last year the first National League was launched. This year, Indian soccer continued to keep its promise as one of India's fastest growing sports. FC Kochin, the country's first ever professional club, made its debut. Over 50 foreign players arrived to play for local clubs. Not that India was short of talent. In the suited-booted, Reebok-endorsing, fortune-earning, goal-scoring Baichung Bhutia the sport found its most saleable star.
