ART
Reports on the State of Affairs
(Lalit Kala Akademi, Delhi: August 24 - September 7)

For a photographer, where does reportage end and art begin? Must there be a dividing line at all? Figure out for yourself, as you mull over these stark pictures of East and West Germany from the 1950s-80s, captured on film by 10 German lenspersons. The selection spans three generations, both sexes and a whole range of styles.

Paintingss in Opaque water colour-- Sailoz Mookherjea
(Art Konsult, Delhi: August 25 - September 12)

Mookherjea died in 1960 and his last solo show was two years later. So this exhibition of 10 works of the rather lyrical painter in his pastoral-romantic mode is quite a treat -- even more so the few sketches. Most of the paintings on show here are from the late 1940s and early 1950s, when he seemed to be settling into the style that made him famous.

FOOD
The Great Kabab Factory
(Radisson Hotel, Delhi: Meal for two -- Rs 1,000 plus)

It's more the Great Kabab Treadmill -- with a capacity to make 160 kababs (Lucknavi, Hyderabadi, Kashmiri). The day's selection of half a dozen comes with an array of Indian breads, biryani, raita and the rest. Warning: the veg kababs are a disappointment if you've sampled the other variety.
