ART
50 yearts Struggle for Freedom -- Dhiraj Choudhury
(Lalit Kala Academy, Delhi: July 31 to August 13)

"The picture I paint may not be pretty," says the artist, "but they are an expression of my love for humanity." With his facile brush, Dhiraj Choudhury has succeeded in re- counting what is by and large a personal history of freedom. These paintings -- all semi-autobiographical -- are peopled by characters and objects that occupy his own world.

Recent Works -- A Rajeswara Rao & Sajid Bin Amar
(Gallery Espace, Delhi: August 13-31)

What do these two painters have in common? They're both Hyderabad-based, work out of the same studio, and are in their 30s. That apart, they are developing their own individual styles as is evident in this show.
