ART

New Works--Chittrovanu Mazumdar
(Jehangir Gallery, Mumbai; November 4-10)

There is nothing obvious about these paintings, all untitled, either in their themes or their content. The vivid splashes of colour, sometimes almost unconsciously consumed by the darker shades on the canvas, vibrate with a dynamism all their own. Should be a memorable experience.

Echoes in the Mind--Uday Kulkarni
(Chitrakala Parishath, Bangalore; November 6-12)

A chemical engineer cum artist, Uday Kulkarni pays his tribute to love through this acrylic-on-canvas series. The paintings are accompanied by short, effective poems by 17-year-old Anvaya Ingle (whom Kulkarni describes as "the daughter of a friend") which add their own tones and shades of colour to the paintings.

THEATRE

Prithvi Festival 1997--Theatre of India
(Prithvi Theatre, St Andrews Auditorium, NCPA Experimental Theatre, NCPA Tata Theatre, Mumbai, November 6-23)

The Prithvi Festival once again focuses on theatre in India. Featuring the works of 26 groups from across the country, it will be one of the largest gatherings of its kind in India. The festival provides a unique and exciting platform for groups contributing to the growth and progress of theatre as an art form.

MUSIC

The Joys of Reiki Meditations--Nalin Narula and Benoo Narula
(Plus Music, Rs 145)

A unique healing experience, as the Fourth Grandmaster of Reiki takes listeners on a meditative journey. Enjoy the soothing effect of White Light and the gentle vibrations of the Sound of the Universe. This is one journey that is bound to leave you feeling refreshed and relieved of stress.

Listen To My Heart
(Archies, Rs 75)

Another remix of popular film tracks like Tum miley and Kabhi kabhi. It's supposed to be for people who are romantically inclined, but the cold-blooded murder of the original numbers by some raw voices simply leaves you fuming. This Indipop techno beat creates far more confusion than fusion.
