their War Too
The statue of the unknown Gorkha soldier installed by the Bhanubhakta Samiti in Gurung Basti has a new relevance. On July 4, local Gorkhas gathered to pay homage and raised Rs 90,000 for the war effort. Says its president Devendra Gurung: "To us the soldier has no rank, no religion. These things don't matter when the coffins come back. We want them to know we're there." |
