Khan Do

In a few months, Bangalore could earn another sobriquet: R&R row. There was always the Jindal centre. Then Sarah Ferguson's consultation with the homoeopath Dr Isaac Mathias, strengthened the status. Now Bollywood director Sanjay Khan has chosen the city for a Rs 80 crore resort spa -- Bangalore Intercontinental Resort at the Golden Palms Spa. Why Bangalore? "Because it has a billion dollar climate, looks like a hill-station, is the science capital and is an ever growing city." Khan's company World Resorts Limited has tied up with Inter-Continental Hotels and Resorts, an international hotel company, to start this cross between a luxury resort and spa. So you can combine a liposuction with leisure.

Among other things, it plans to offer Asian therapies, western spa methods and plastic surgery. Asian therapies have ayurveda and Chinese beauty arts; western spa offerings are dead seaweed bath, body blitz; and plastic surgery is for liposuctions and altering facial maps. The 14-acre complex is on Tumkur Road, about 45 minutes drive north of Bangalore. A soft launch is planned for mid-November. "We'll guide people to look good and feel great," says Khan. At a price, yes, but also with anonymity purchased with exclusivity. "Clients will only be referred to by their id numbers." Try a hand at being a nobody?
