Go Mumbai: Helpline
The Godrej-GE Traffic Helpline is back for the second
consecutive monsoon to help harried commuters deal with traffic jams and floods. An
automated voice response gives you the latest info (updated hourly) on city traffic,
weather conditions and high and low tide timings. It gets about 1,000 calls a day since
its launch early this month. So next time you are caught in a downpour and don't know
which road to take, call (022) 518-1717. The service is operational till September end.
Food
The name sounds grand but don't be fooled by Passage to India,
the restaurant at Regent Hotel, at Land's End in Bandra. The interior is quite classy and
subdued compared to the garish exterior of the hotel, the captains and waiters are
extremely attentive, but the food wants to make you yell, "Think before you name
something." The Hara Murg hasn't even a trace of green, the Diwan-i-Khas, a grand
chicken makeover, as bland as an unripe banana, the Khurmi Naan too rubbery. The Pethiwala
Pomfret, though oily to the core, is tasty and the Kashmiri Raita pretty good. With this
and the price an average of Rs 1,200 for two, it's an avoidable passage of hard-earned
money. Spend it elsewhere. |
