Go Calcutta: Food

A portion of Shepherd's pie and a pint of stout to wash it down with! That's The Big Ben, the pub -- due to open in August -- that promises a truly British ambience, at Calcutta's Kenilworth hotel. The idea came from the hotel's location on Little Russel Street (echoing the Kenilworth hotel on London's Russell Street). As for the decor, there are signs from the London metro on every wall, even Big Ben replicas at the bar. Every bit was carted from England. Entry is restricted to members (Rs 10,000 a year) who number 400, with another 100 on the waiting list. A couple of beers and a main course meal costs about Rs 400. Small change in pound sterling terms.
