Go Delhi: Theatre Festival
As the name might suggest, Asmita (A Sedulous
Move for Innovative Theatre Activities) is a serious theatre group. Its Drama
Festival '99, on till September 23 at Sri Ram Centre, offers the best plays the
group has put up so far. Swadesh Deepak's Court Martial is the story of a young man unable
to escape the caste system even in the Indian Army. The programme also includes Sabse
Udaas Kavita by the same author, Mahesh Dattani's Final Solutions on the theme of communal
strife and Kanpur Ki Aurat Bhali -- Ramkali (from Bertolt Brecht's The Good Woman of
