Logo Logic
There were loads of designers to
choose from. But when they wanted a logo, Mind Tree -- an it consultancy
set up by ex-Wipro big shot Ashok Soota -- turned to the Spastics Society of Karnataka,
Bangalore. "It was exciting and challenging for all of us," says Lathika Rao,
the society's head of non-formal education & creative arts. Most exciting perhaps for
17-year-old K.S. Chetan, whose design was finally selected. Chetan's blue upward brush
strokes surrounded by yellow bubbles came after a few briefing sessions, followed by four
workshops and practice sessions spread over 10 days with the kids at the society's
creative arts centre. The brief stressed on imagination and action with a sense of joy.
"We showed them logos of different companies and explained what they meant,"
says Mind Tree's coo Subroto Bagchi. "We then told them our own company's vision,
mission and core values." Chetan's untethered blue lines stand for imagination, the
yellow for the joy that comes from acting on it. His design, says Bagchi,
"beautifully embodied our brief".
