Go Travel: Buddhist Tour Guide
The Ministry of Tourism is yet to fully tap
India's tourism potential as a centre of Buddhist pilgrimage. Here's one of those rare
efforts: Walking with the Buddha -- Buddhist Pilgrimages in India is a
joint effort by the Eicher Group and the ministry. The attempt here is to move beyond the
standard tourist brochure format. This slickly produced guide-cum-mini-history-text
chronicles the life of the Buddha, lists sacred sites and doles out useful information on
hotels, restaurants and travel options, all supported by maps, photographs and phone
numbers. Available at leading book stalls in India and Nepal for Rs 250.
