Go Calcutta: Restaurant
Okay, so we're not exactly asking for Bachchan burgers or a Kajol Coke, but there's got to be something that justifies the choice of name, Cafe Bollywood, for this new restaurant at Calcutta's Pantaloons showroom. The menu has some very dull fare with a plate of sandwiches coming for Rs 22, sundaes for Rs 40 and burgers for Rs 38. Meal for two including colas: within Rs 150. The only filmi touches to the place are a few posters, the opening on October 6 by newcomer Aftab Shivdasani, hero of the film Mast, some black-and-white pictures on coasters, a clapper-board as part of the decor and a rather forlorn-looking "director's chair" in a corner. It's Madhubala month right now, so you could solve a quiz on her and win a small prize. If you're a film buff looking for ambience -- a la Planet Hollywood -- skip this one. Address: Pantaloons, 49/1 Gariahat Road. Phone: (033) 476-5307.
