Top of the Line For the most part, Tahiliani's 1999/2000 couture collection was for the completely modern woman in touch with her roots, with an occasional male outfit thrown in. The Indo-western fusion went beyond the by-now predictable kurta-with-trousers ensembles. Sheer saris were worn over figure-hugging, stretch velvet petticoats, and to a rich brown full-skirted, high-yoked evening gown was added a pallu-like length of fabric thrown over bare shoulders. These designs, however, were tempered by the presence of a few that were overdone such as the frilly powder-blue georgette skirt with a minuscule crystal mesh blouse. Even the model's bottom showing from the back could not redeem that one.
