For those who'd like a drink minus
the noisy bar atmosphere, The Tavern and Beyond is worth checking out.
Part of the city's Hotel Fariyas, it's devoted exclusively to drinks and snacks, though a
meal-on-request from the hotel's restaurants is allowed. The extensive list of cocktails
includes Zippy Zappers for Rs 100 and a carafe of Bacchanalian Tango for Rs 700. Down your
drinks while you munch on some liqueur desserts or a host of snacks ranging from Fingers
on Fire (Rs 110) to Malay fish cakes (Rs 110), peppered taouks (Rs 110) and Schezuan slugs
(Rs 90). Appetising, but the small servings don't match up to the high prices. The decor
