Deepak M Satwalekar, 55
Managing Director, HDFC

The Details Man
He's a stickler for perfection. He also refuses to back down on a decision. That's because Deepak Satwalekar does his homework the hard way and wants to see a decision through till its logical conclusion. Says Aditya Puri, who runs HDFC Bank: "Deepak's thinking is: think simple and act big."The No. 2 man in HDFC, India's biggest home finance company is working on making it a one-stop real estate shop. The group with Rs 3,500 crore disbursements in loans in housing and ventures in consumer finance is taking it's tested route which means no stinting on technology or customer relations. Satwalekar, who is expected to take over from chairman Deepak Parekh, is pushing HDFC into property management and taking housing finance to the masses. He wisecracks: "My aim is to be a big fish in a small pond." Don't be fooled. He'll make sure the pond gets bigger.
