Go Delhi: Designer Store
There's more to fashion in India than the Rohit Bals and the Tarun Tahilianis. That's what L' Atelier -- the new designer showroom in Delhi -- is out to prove. Housed in the city's Masjid Moth Commercial Arcade in Greater Kailash Part II, it stocks clothes by designers ranging from those who've been around -- such as Krishna Mehta and James Ferraira -- to talented youngsters like Puja Nayyar, Aki Narula and Upasana Gulati. The store also stocks lifestyle accessories including candle stands, napkin rings, pots made of an interesting variety of materials such as leather, metal and wood, and photo frames among other things.

Play
It's the Mahabharat revisited. Chingari theatre group's The Mahabharata of Women draws on prominent female characters in the epic -- Draupadi, Satyavati, Kunti, Gandhari -- and weaves them in with three nameless people in a complex contemporary story: Mother, Son, Sister. The cast includes Sunit Tandon, Rukmini Sekhar, Priyanka Jijharia, Poonam Girdhani and others. The play, written by Jawaharlal Nehru University professor K. Madavane, is being premiered in India. Dates: November 26-28. Venue: Kamani Auditorium. After repeat shows in Delhi in February 2000, it travels to Mumbai in the same month, and to Chennai in October 2000.
