Soniaji was all dimpled smiles in what seems to be the launch of Operation Friendly. Her guest list for the dinner after an ignca conference on Saturday -- smashing salmon steaks, though pomegranate juice had to make up for the missing spirits -- had dressed-in-Sunday-best presswallahs. Making sure that all were happy were friends, interior designer Sunita Kohli and journalist Suman Dubey. While Kohli took care of pre-dinner drinks, Dubey did the rounds of the tables.

But what had my eyes popping was the pre-nuptial party Kamal Nath's son Bakul had on the family farm in Bijwasan for pal Siddharth Gupta, one of the BMW boys. Seems the Naths discovered a magnificent ruin of a step well. So in stepped the Beautiful People for this party which had gold as its theme. Parul Sarin -- the new Mrs Gupta -- looked as if she's stepped out of an Austin Powers movie with her shimmering gold blouse and pants. Monumental party, eh?

Guess who turned up for showman Subhash Ghai's party to celebrate 100 days of his film Taal. The PM's foster daughter and son-in-law Ranjan Bhattacharya, Shobhana Bhartia, India's wannabe Katherine Graham, and husband Shyam. Ash and Sush were there too. But guess who stole the show? Ghai's new gal, of course.
