JUDGE ME NOT
Meininger, Deo, "Princess" Bhargavi of Mewar with her husbandA
book launch is allowed, but dinner? No way. At least K.P. Singh Deo thinks so. The former I&B minister, also former royal from Dhenkanal, graced the release of a glossy entitled The Kingdom of Mewar by German judge Irmgard Meininger last week. But he slipped away soon after, turning down an invitation to dine with Meininger and friends. "Fifteen million people in my state are suffering, and it will be very bad for me if I'm seen attending," he explained. "It would be harakiri for me if someone photographs me at the dinner." Appearances, appearances, always appearances.

If Spielberg could do The Lost World after Jurassic Park, why stop these guys? Twenty-five years after veteran producer G.P. Sippy made Sholay -- and history -- his grandsons Sascha and Shaan are taking a story idea from grandpa, and making Sholay 2000. There'll be an international talent search for the cast and crew. "We're not touching the original," says Sascha. "This will be a completely different picture." What's with the name then, buddy?

Matthew KordoliaLaila RouassWorking on Laila
It can't get more exclusive than this. Channel V veejay Matthew Kordolia -- the guy in Tea with V and V on Campus -- is a fitness instructor on the side. Funny thing, he's got precisely one client: fellow veejay Laila Rouass. Matthew hopes to start a state-of-the-art gym some day with five storeys, advanced equipment, dieticians, the works -- but for now it's the lovely Laila and the machines. "Laila is easy to work on because she has already got such a great figure," the 22-year-old admits, though he can't help but add, "If she develops harder muscles, she'll look 20 times better than she is right now." What's better than gorgeous?

In the views
One way or another, his film is making news. Kamal Haasan's Hey! Ram has irked TMC leader Jayanthi Natarajan and others with its protagonist's remarks blaming the Mahatma for the Partition riots. The film first made a splash with its multi-star cast. Now the controversy. And there's the so-far hidden fact that Kamal's daughter Shruthi, 13, appears in it as Sardar Patel's daughter. Says papa: "My wife put in an application. She said, 'how about giving my daughter a chance?' So I did." Some girls have all the luck.
