Cheque This Out
Golf? A rich man's game?
"Perhaps for those who play it as a hobby," says Vijay Kumar, 32. "For me
it's bread and butter." Last week, the caddy-turned-pro from Lucknow raked in enough
cash for some caviar too, when he won the Honda-Siel-PGA Championship, India's highest
paying golf tournament. Kumar walked away with a cheque of Rs 4 lakh plus and a Honda City
car. Now he needs driving practice of another kind. The City is his first car ever and
though "mujhe thoda bahut gaadi chalana bhi aata hai (I know a bit of driving)",
he's had to make do with a mobike all these years. Rich man's game? Now, who said that?
