Stare Fare
Itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny ... Cut ... Polka dot
bikinis are child's play for Rina Dhaka. This new dhak-dhak lady had male hearts
pounding with her wild and wacky fashion show in Delhi at Radisson Hotel's underground
parking lot last week. The stuffiness down below wasn't the only thing that had people
sweating. Models strutted their stuff in see-through tops (most bras went missing) and
transparent trousers with just G-strings showing through. Dhaka called this her Fall 2000
collection, but her millenium woman wants it all: the "empowerment" of the
swinging '60s, a bit of the Raj, the "richness of Persian miniatures", London's
"street fashion". So there were fake furs, leopard skins, zebra stripes, metal
bustiers, strategically placed sequins. Would anybody wear this stuff? Says Dhaka: "I
might not walk across Jan Path in these outfits, but, yes, I would wear most of
them." |
