Cave Culturati
Two-thousand-year-old sculptures, Raga Kedar live by Shubha Mudgal and The Dance of Shiva performed by Alarmel Valli ... All for a glitch of Mumbai's glitterati under a twinkling canopy of stars at Elephanta Caves. The occasion: an auction of paintings by intach, which will use the proceeds to conserve the caves. Politicos Vilasrao Deshmukh and Amar Singh dropped in. An Atul Dodiya painting titled Johannesburg Days sold at roughly Rs 2 lakh. Bidders included Vinod Khanna, Mahesh Jethmalani, Adi and Parmeshwar Godrej, presided over by art patroness Tina Ambani -- yep, the Reliance bahu.
