So you thought Ayesha Dharkar disappeared
after Terrorist? Stop thinking. The talented leading lady of Santosh
Sivan's film is back to making a splash, this time with Hallmark
Entertainment's Arabian
Nights that will be out in April. Dharkar plays the part of a belly dancer
and the genie's wife to Jason "Mowgli" Scott Lee's Alladin.
We've heard that she's a perfectionist, but during the shooting of this
film in Turkey, she slipped into the role with such panache that "a
German tourist thought I was an actual dancer and wanted to take lessons
from me". Making the right moves, huh?
First Take
just one hit under the belt, and he's already doing guest appearances.
Last week Hrithik Roshan made his catwalk
debut in Delhi during a Provogue fashion show. The young sensation -- who
did a turn on the ramp in a Provogue shirt, even danced a little dance --
"was reluctant to model since he's an actor", the company
grapevine lets on. But he agreed because his film Kaho Naa ... Pyaar Hai
is being promoted by the clothing label. Why Hrithik? "We've got a
young image," says Provogue md Nikhil Chaturvedi, "and Hrithik
being the hottest star around, everyone wants to be like him." A
tough call though.
Two Much
This one's a double whammy for music lovers. Magnasound's Kaisa Yeh
Jadoo features two first-timers: singer Bela,
18, and
composer-lyricist Saurabh V. Bhatt, 21.
Bela's the
mega final winner of Zee TV's Sa Re Ga Ma. And Bhatt (who's done four
songs on this Indipop album) is no run-of-the-mill youngster either.
"I want to bring back old melody," says the son of Grammy award
winner Vishwa Mohan Bhatt. "For me, the musical value is
supreme." Sheer jadoo then.
Can't Miss
It took an international title to launch Sushmita Sen and Aishwarya
Rai into the big league. Lara Dutta is
already there. The reigning Miss India, a strong contender for the Miss
Universe crown, wowed the crowd at a recent fashion show in Munich for
Longines watches. She's also landed a contract as brand ambassador for
Longines' DolceVita Square collection. Remember Rai was roped in by
Longines just last year, over five years after she won Miss World? "I
was in consideration even before I won Miss India," says Dutta with
her trademark confidence. "I guess it was just a case of being in the
right place at the right time and being spotted by the right people."
And being the right person herself. |
