Mirch Masala, an Indian cuisine restaurant, is supposed to be a dhaba. It certainly looks like one. Old tyres strung up, a taxi cleverly turned into a crockery cabinet and gaudy posters of Nehru and Gandhi. The walls are covered with murals of filmstars -- there's Ajay Devgan selling Coke and Govinda pushing a Thums-Up cart, with one-liners from the phillum world. Dinner for two: Rs 350-400. Call: (033) 475-9991/2.

Go Pondicherry: Hotel

The continental cuisine comes "pre-plated", with large American portions. A three-course meal for two should cost Rs 400.
