Big city bright lights Metro
angst. Moolah vs creativity. A sea view flat in Mumbai vs parched Delhi.
That's Siren City -- a David Williamson comedy adapted by Sandhya Divecha
and directed by Lilette Dubey which will be travelling soon to all the
metros. The play is about writer Vikram (Jayant Kripalani), his cultured
wife Anu (Kitu Gidwani), their translocation to Mumbai and their
interaction with a hustler (Mohan Kapoor). Explains Dubey: "The play
has been relocated to the Indian context and takes a tongue-and-cheek look
at middle age and marriage." And during rehearsals, the cast often
felt a sense of deja vu -- they'd either been in similar situations or
known people who resembled the actors. A genuine laugh-getter. -Natasha Israni |
