Literary feast Tradition
is big in Calcutta around Poila Baisakh, the Bengali New Year, when
authentic Bengali cuisine is a hot favourite. So last week, The Park
cooked up a food fest called "Thakurbarir Bhoj", taste-bud
tinglers from the House of Tagores. And foodies starved of inside details
about Bengal's most illustrious family lapped it up. Of the 50-odd dishes
featured in The Park's menu, several date back to the 19th century, and
all are taken from a cookbook by Purnima Tagore, a descendant of Gurudev.
It's not the Gitanjali, but it's certainly something.
