Narrowing the gulf

Oman has tried its hardest to seduce Indians to its plush seaside sultanate. As  Moshin Bin Khamis Al Balushi, deputy minister director of tourism of Oman, said: "Paradise is just a stone's throw away for the Indian traveller." But at the Taj in Mumbai last week, at least the armchair traveller had a blast. First delectable Omani Sur dancers swayed and swirled, enticing the likes of Jai Mehta, Adi Godrej and Ketan Mehta. Later the guests were treated to the lavishly created Oman collection of Tarun Tahiliani featuring models like Reshma Bombaywalla, Nethra Raghuraman and Svetlana Capser. So any takers for Oman in summer?
