A question of cricket

Where does Mark Waugh record his centuries?" quizzed the ubiquitous cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle. "On his thigh pad," was the quick, enthusiastic response from the Australians. Stumped is a new cricket quiz to be aired from May 11 on Star Sports. "The questions are very original and involve the audience," says Raymond Hume, a producer of Stumped. Former captain Allan Border and Aussie players Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist and Tom Moody competed with players from the 1983 Indian World Cup team like Sunil Gavaskar, Mohinder Amarnath, Dilip Vengsarkar and Kris Srikkanth. (They were outsmarted by the Aussies in most episodes we watched being shot.) Gavaskar planted himself amongst the 200-plus crowd which had gathered to watch their cricketheroes."Rounding up an audience to cheer isn't a problem in cricket crazy India," laughed Border.  He's right. Controversies notwithstanding, cricket in India still hasn't lost its flavour.
