Looking Glass

Delhi: Restaurant

Ruby Tuesday -- a restaurant named after a Rolling Stones song --  is the latest all-American chain to hit Connaught Place. The look is "sports and entertainment" (all-American, of course). A weatherbeaten saddle, baseball bats and pictures of popular Yankee stars decorate the walls. But it's very similar to the other American chain, TGIFridays -- right down to the annoying 'Ruby' song, which the waiters shriek occasionally to motivate themselves. Typical American-Mexican food: nachos, potato skins and spare ribs. A must-try is the sumptuous Chocolate Tall Cake, big enough for three   people. A meal for two (no drinks) would cost Rs 700. Call (011) 332-3627.

Bangalore: Store

Down to earth interiors along with down to earth prices. The new store, Things, has done away with all frills and prides itself on its spacious, minimalistic look. Located in a house, Things offers a variety of household stuff -- linen, garments, quilts, durries, pottery, gifts, stained glass and items created and designed by small-time artisans and non-governmental organisations from various parts of India. The flavour and look is completely ethnic and traditional. Things is located at Domlur. For more information call (080) 526-3173.
