Bare with Dhaka Did
you know bright white underwear is in fashion?" smirked a
drunk-on-free-champagne guest, after designer Rina Dhaka's hi-summer
collection showing at the Park Hotel. Well, he's right. Dhaka's bare-all
show was a haven for some of the lecherous men watching, who sat with
tongues almost hanging out as models in backless, virtually frontless and
transparent outfits glided onto the ramp. The startlingly original
creations left the audience gasping for breath. But what caught everyone's
eye were the glaringly visible, thick innerwear the models sported beneath
formal, sequinned pants. Fashion statement or just plain tacky? "We
matched the underwear to the clothes," snapped a defensive Dhaka.
"Everybody makes a noise about my daring shows, but that's how I
dress myself." Hey, who's complaining?
