Wonders with Veggies If
I had to be ship wrecked and choose a companion, it would be my cook any
day!" laughs the vivacious author, Jasleen Dhamija, with a twinkle in
her eye. The Joy of Vegetarian Cooking, Dhamija's cookbook for
"people who can burn water" is simply written, yet innovative
with unique recipes collected from Turkey, Iran and Africa on her travels.
Her book concentrates on healthy eating based on the Indian Ayurvedic
system. At the Habitat Centre in Delhi, the crafts person-turned-author
deftly whipped up concoctions like moong dal waffles and tinda with French
dressing. "Did you know that asparagus
was considered an aphrodisiac?" questions the mischievous
lady. Cute anecdotes about the vegetables and the imaginatively named
recipes like Rembrandt's Dish and Poor Man's Caviar make it a fun,
cheerful book -- perfect for a cooking novice. "Life's for living and
loving," adds the incorrigible Dhamija. And eating.
