Go Delhi: Fitness Centre

Planet X on Vikas Marg in Preet Vihar offers reasonably priced facilities including a gymnasium (Rs 600 a month), aerobics (monthly fee of Rs 600), steam and sauna, yoga and meditation, and naturopathy. The place even has a beverage bar offering health drinks with diet ice creams coming up. Owner Paras Nayar insists he has "a monopoly because there is no good gym in east Delhi and people would earlier go to south Delhi fitness centres". Now, hopefully, they won't. Call (011) 201-6249.

Restaurant

Mumbai's happening hangout Geoffrey's comes to Delhi. It's snazzier than its Mumbai branch. Miniature dancing men are placed above the bar here. That's where the future band will play. Chef Karan Mehta (ex-Oberoi) has painstakingly put together an "early bird meal" -- Rs 275 per guest all inclusive (no dessert). "Karan rejected the bread four times before he was satisfied," laughs Vipin Luthra, co-owner. Typical pub grub. For something different, try the Thai chicken curry in yellow sauce. At Ansal Plaza. Telephone: (011) 626-1305.

Go Chennai: Watch Store

The swanky Helvetica store stocks 14 varieties of designer Swiss watches, from Omega to sports watches from Tag Heuer. Prices start at Rs 5,000. The hits? Omega's "first man on the moon" watch worn by Neil Armstrong (Rs 55,500). Says Ashok Doshi, MD: "Some of these watches even record your ECG." At Spencer Plaza II, call (044) 841-8015.

Go Pune: Mall

Dev's Nirman is Pune's first megastore-cum-entertainment centre. The three-level store is equipped with a mini theatre, a cafeteria, a bakery and a photo shop. "The idea is for the family to go shopping together," says Bipin Gurnani, general manager. You name it you'll find it here: electrical appliances, crockery, cosmetics, jewellery or books. Plans include a sports cafe, a beauty salon and processing orders over e-mail. Address: 1978, Convent Street. Call (020) 830-2905.
