LOOKING GLASS

DELHI
Home Store
The newly opened homestore La Brallentine offers a variety of opulent bric-a-brac-Murano glass, porcelain artefacts and over thirty varieties of crystal. "Each piece is handpicked from either Belgium, Japan or Italy," explains Vandana Mittal, one of four sisters who own the shop. The shop, at 85 Sainik Farms also provides the services of a qualified interior designer for selecting furniture from the entire display of 12 fully furnished bedrooms and two dining areas. Besides that it claims to set up an entire model bedroom in three hours flat as well as after sales support. Call (011) 656 0179 for more details.

Restaurant
Hyatt Regency in Delhi has discovered a way to add some zing to dining-changing the restaurant as the meal progresses. Now for Rs 1,000 (plus taxes) per person, one can enjoy some imported sparkling wine and tapas at the Polo Lounge, dig into some oriental soup and main course at TK'S and finally head for dessert to the airy coffee shop. Better to read the fine print as well: the restaurant-hopping scheme is limited to a minimum six guests only and Hyatt Cards are not accepted. For reservations call (011) 679 1022.

MUMBAI
Ayurveda Centre
This isn't exactly Deepak Chopra's luxurious Centre For Well Being in La Jolla. But the Panchkarma Centre at Mumbai's Poddar Ayurvedic Hospital is clean ("We treat the place like a temple," says an official), efficient (the staff are trained at the ayurvedic retreat in Kotakkal) and relatively inexpensive (the package costs a mere Rs 5,000, about the price of a massage at international spas). Call (022) 4932835 for more details.

BANGALORE

Restaurant
Not particular about the bizzare mix of pure vegetarian north Indian and Chinese? Head for Ramana's, a restaurant located in the heart of Bangalore on Cunningham Road. The most popular stuff on the menu have proved to be tava kababs, gobhi hara pyaza and chilli idli. "The reason we opened the restaurant was because there were not many places serving exclusive Indian and Chinese veg dishes," say owners Sanjay and Neeta Lohia. An average meal for two costs Rs 250. Call (080) 226-3200 for more details.

Shop
Rodeo Drive is Bangalore's latest luxury goodies shop housing some of the best top-of-the-line collections of Swiss watches with prices ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 3 lakh. "The idea is to have a world-class store with the finest brands of perfumes, sunglasses, leather products, jewellery ... apart from watches," says Rodeo Drive Managing Director Prithviraj Bagrecha, who got his break when Ebel picked him to retail their watches in Bangalore four years ago. Rodeo Drive, like the epynomous street in Los Angles (from where Bagrecha got the inspiration), is also a one-stop shop for Century and Mont Blanc pens, French champagne and Godiva chocolates. At 101 Richmond Road. Call (080) 227-1977.
