Show Time
ShaliniMaking a mark here isn't easy. But US-based Indian designers Anand Jon and Shalini did just Anand Jonthat at the recent 7th on Sixth Fashion Week in New York. Jon, a veteran of four seasons, even got sundry socialites and heiresses like Mick Jagger's daughter Elizabeth and maverick millionaire Donald Trump's girlfriend to model his clothes because "I wanted to put real people who happen to be beautiful on the show". Quite the event.

Your Honour
HelenIt's one of those rare gestures. At a live concert in Mumbai last week, former dancing Aishwarya Raiqueen Helen was feted by present-day princesses Shilpa Shetty, Aishwarya Rai, Urmila Matondkar, Raveena Tandon and others. "It's very gracious of these beautiful girls to dance to my songs," said Helen. "They were much better than me." No ma'am, they don't make them like you any more.

Pretty Young Something
She's Tamil Nadu's Cyrus Broacha. Uma Maheswari, 26, has anchored Sun TV's longest running show, Pepsi Ungal Choice, since its launch in 1994. It's just completed 325 episodes. And though a Net poll has rated her the state's best anchor, she now directs programmes for her own company, and she's turned down several acting offers, she still says modestly: "If it weren't for viewers who call in, the show would not have been so popular. You've to thank them for it." The gratitude, it seems, is mutual.

Harshvardhan Nawathe
Kaun Banega Crorepati's first crorepati met the press last week.

A sample of the 27-year-old's comments:

Q. What will you do with the money?
A.
I've not decided yet, but I'd like to consult my parents.

Q. What was the main attraction, Bachchan or the money?
A. Bachchan, naturally. I am a big fan.

Q. Would you like to participate in other game shows like Sawal Dus Crore Ka?
A. No, I am quite satisfied with this amount.

Q. What will you do if the underworld calls?
A.
I'll give the phone to my father (a former IPS officer) who has plenty of experience in handling such people.
