The NDMC says that the rent was fixed by the CPWD more than two decades ago. Now it is time to revise that rate.

LOK NAYAK BHAVAN: The Directorate of Estates occupies six floors in the building and has piled up arrears of Rs 76.34 crore. It also houses the Official Languages Department of the Home Ministry and owes the NDMC Rs 3.89 crore in rental arrears and interest.

Mayur Bhavan: The Income-Tax Department has its office in this building located in Connaught Place, the bustling commercial and shopping centre in the heart of the city. The department has accumulated arrears of Rs 16.64 crore in rent and interest.

Palika Bhavan: The public sector Ircon International, which has an office here, has moved court against the NDMC notice for recovery of Rs 1.59 crore in rent. NDMC says that it is justified in enhancing the rent because the NDMC Act permits a 10 per cent annual increase.

Akbar Bhavan: Once a five-star hotel, it now houses offices. Five floors are occupied by divisions of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), including the Bureau of Security, the SAARC Division and the Protocol Division. NDMC says MEA owes it Rs 51.22 crore.
