22, 1985: Two suitcases containing bombs are checked into Canadian
Pacific Air at Vancouver airport for through passage on two Air-India
flights: Toronto-Delhi and Tokyo-Bangkok

X-ray
machines at Toronto airport do not work. Staff use hand-held bomb sniffers.
Two passengers who had bought Canadian Pacific Air tickets at Vancouver
for onward travel on AI check in baggage on two different flights but
do not board the aircraft.

7.19 a.m. (GMT) on June 23, the suitcase bomb which had been off loaded
from CP Air for through passage to AI Flight 301 from Tokyo to Bangkok
explodes in the baggage handling area at Narita airport, killing two baggage
handlers.

8.09 a.m.(GMT), AI Flight 182 from Toronto to Delhi appears on the radar
screen at the control tower at Shannon International Airport in Dublin
as it was flying over Ireland for a scheduled halt at London's Heathrow
airport. Four minutes later, the blip vanishes from the radar screen.
