Song and Dance
You would remember Rajkumar Santoshi's China-Gate for its earthy Urmila Matondkar Chumma chumma number. Now you can remember it for Hollywood actor Nicole Kidman. If Anu Malik, the song's composer, is to be believed, director Ben Luhrman of the US "wants Kidman to do the song in his next film". "It seems Luhrman likes my music," brags Malik, who's already made his travel plans. "Great artists before me have done well abroad. It's an opportunity I won't miss." An opportunity to make a song and dance of it.

Done In a Trice!
Remember Teejan Bai, The dusky, rustic, tanpura wielding Pandvani (ballad of the Pandavas) folk singer from Chhattisgarh? Turns out the 45-plus 1988 Padma Shri awardee has divorced for a third time. Ending her 12-year marriage to Tulsi Deshmukh wasn't a problem: the only formality was penning their intent before the village panchayat. Booms Bai: "I wanted to be freed of the shackles of marriage." Wonder if the "Tulsi" tattoo on her hand will be as easy to wipe off!

Class Royale
Jaipur's City Palace has a museum. Now it will have a Montessori school. And in charge will be Princess Diya Kumari (Rajmata Gayatri Devi's granddaughter) who will open The Palace School for "tiny tots" in April. Meaning, the palace lawns-so far the venue of lavish parties-will now throb with laughing, babbling pre-schoolers. Says Kumari, whose son Padmanabh will be one of them: "It will be a humble effort." Royalspeak or plain modesty?

Right Lead
Her track record after Subhash Ghai's Pardes: Dhadkan, Deewane, Dil Kya Kare ... Mahima Choudhary has had a spate of special appearances and shared lead roles. But with the Akshay Kumar-starrer Khiladi 420, where Choudhary plays the lead "deciding between two lovers", she is bouncing again. The film's director Neeraj Vora cast her for her "intense, intelligent, Indianness-combined-with-modernity" traits. "In fact, she's fantastic," beams Vora. Not for nothing is this lady standing tall.
