DELHI
Holy Grain

The National Centre for Training in Values and Ethics in Agriculture is being set up in Mussoorie. Its sudden sprouting may owe something to the virtuosity of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) president, Union Agriculture Minister Nitish Kumar, and the expertise of ICAR Secretary Shashi Mishra, who spent two years doing research on "Values and Ethics in Administration". Till now ICAR was responsible for research, education, training and transfer of technology for advancement in agriculture and the allied sciences. Now it will have to part with
Rs 2 crore from its budget for the centre.

DELHI
The Bright Sparks

The Nizam of Hyderabad's jewels, valued at around Rs 1,500 crore in the international market, were being brought to Delhi for display at the National Museum. For security reasons, the museum's director-general had been instructed to ensure secrecy. Imagine his surprise when detailed reports on the movement of the jewels appeared in three newspapers on the
day of the move. It seems while officials were chewing their nails in nervousness, policemen were briefing reporters about the security for their cargo.

DELHI
Seeing Isn't Believing

The Army Court of Inquiry into the Tehelka scandal has found evidence to justify criminal proceedings against only one of the five serving officers accused of taking bribes from the dotcom investigators. The other four face disciplinary action, though one of them said he had thrown the wads of money back at the Tehelka team after initially accepting them. This was edited out of the videos, he alleged. Jayalalitha would have taken his word for it.

BHOPAL
What, Pray?

Sonia Gandhi and 600 Congressmen will perform a manokamna siddhi (wish fulfilment) yagna at the Jain pilgrimage centre of Mahendragarh in Madhya Pradesh shortly.
The gods may find a confused mass of
wishes rushing up at them: personal desires
apart, many in the party are believed to be
praying for Priyanka's elevation to
the throne.
