METROSCAPE: LOOKING GLASS

DELHI
Exhibition

"Figures in my mind" is what seven stylistically mismatched artists think of the human body-raw or fettered with clothes. Rekha Rodwittya has drawn heads, taking structural inspiration from tantric or folk pictography, Sudhir Patwardhan has stuck to intimate charcoal sketches, Anupam Sud has got out some freshly minted prints and Shibu Natesan (above) has painted situations with Hockney-like realism. On at Gallery Espace till September 1. Call (011) 632-6267 for more details.

Night Club-Restaurant

Fireball at 32nd Milestone, the entertainment complex near Gurgaon, became famous as a hotspot for suburban merrymaking in the early 1990s until a temporary ban on liquor by the Haryana government put off the crowds ... and the management. Now Fireball has become Nyx, named after the Greek Goddess of the Night, and the dome-shaped disco has transformed into a three-level night club with a dance floor and DJ console, a second floor bar counter and an 89-cover continental food restaurant. Call (011) 503-8891 for more details.

MUMBAI
Lifestyle Store

Corinthian columns, ceiling-high windows and an expanse of white in situ flooring form the eclectic interiors of a heritage building that houses Yantra, the furniture salon and flagship store of Yash and Avanti Birla. Over 22 Italian, Asian and Indian designers, including Dema, Fiam, Foscarini and Fendi, display an ultra-contemporary sensibility in chairs, wardrobes and desks (in glass, seagrass, cane and plastic) complementing tableware, steel and metal accessories and starchy bed linen. For more details call (022) 200-3621/22/23.
