International Discounts

With a recession in the global tourism industry, Indians are being lured with tempting packages

S. Africa
Rs 76,752 (11 days+2 days in Dubai, including airfare)
Go on an African safari and round it off with a shopping spree in Dubai. Last year, an 11-day South African package from SOTC cost Rs 1,04,286 per person on a twin-sharing basis. It now costs Rs 76,752 with two nights in Dubai thrown in free. Shree Raj Travel and Tours' package for six nights, seven days cost about Rs 11,000 per person per night last year. This year, an add-on of five free nights in Kenya brings down the cost to about Rs 8,000 per night.

Australia
Rs 39,999 (3 nights, 4 days, including airfare)
A holiday in Australia costs Rs 39,999 per person on a twin-sharing basis and includes return air fare to Mumbai, three night stay, breakfast, airport transfer and half-day sightseeing. Last year the same trip would have cost around Rs 46,500 per person but discounted air fares and hotel tariffs are allowing tour operators like Thomas Cook to offer rebates to their customers this year.

Sri Lanka
Rs 21,000 (4 nights, 5 days for a couple+air fare ex Mumbai)
Sri Lankan Surprise is an apt name for the five-day, four-night package which costs Rs 21,000 per couple and includes return air ticket to Mumbai, breakfasts and airport transfers. Last year, a four-night, five-day package cost about Rs 10,897 per person and included accommodation, breakfast, all transfers and sightseeing. But it did not include air fare.

 

Singapore
Rs 6,336 (3 nights, 4 days)
Witness the miracle that is Singapore for just Rs 6,336 per person on a twin-sharing basis for a three-night, four-day package that includes airport transfers, breakfast and sightseeing and Singapore River boat ride. Last year, a four-night package would have cost around Rs 6,492. What is also becoming extremely popular is three-day cruise trips on luxury liners at affordable rates.

Mauritius
Rs 10,272 (6 nights, 7 days)
Soak in the sun and sands at throwaway prices. Delhi-based package tour operator. Trade-Wings Tours is offering a seven day-six night package at this paradise for groups of four at an unbelievable Rs 10,272. Last year, the same tour would have cost Rs 13,432. The package includes three-star hotel stay, return airport transfers, two meals a day, sightseeing and an undersea walk.

Thailand
Rs 5,424 (4 nights, 5 days)
Walk on the sands of the Pattaya beach in Thailand while on a seven-night, eight-day tour from Thomas Cook costing Rs 16,799 per person on a twin-sharing basis. The package includes stay (with breakfasts and dinners) in Bangkok and Pattaya, return airport transfers and sightseeing. Last year, a similar tour would have cost around Rs 21,300. Other travel agents make as good offers.

Malaysia
Rs 21,120 (5 nights, 6 days per couple)
There's some great news for would-be honeymooners. For Rs 21,120, a couple can have a breathtaking five-night holiday in Malaysia, including five-star stay, breakfast, sightseeing and airport transfers. Last year, a three-night package in Malaysia would have cost about Rs 13,447 per couple in a three-star hotel, plus breakfast and sightseeing. Agents are now packaging Malaysia with Australia.
