PASSPORT FEE
Expensive Proposition

The Government of India has hiked the passport fees. An ordinary passport will now cost Rs 1,000 ($21) while a jumbo passport of 60 pages will be available at Rs 1,500 ($31). Endorsements in the passport will come at Rs 300 ($6), miscellaneous services requiring a new passport booklet of 36 pages will cost Rs 500 ($10) and an ordinary passport booklet containing 36 pages with a maximum validity of five years for children below 18 years will cost Rs 600 ($12). The cost of replacing a lost, damaged or stolen passport will be Rs 2,500 ($51). The fee for other services has also been revised. However, the tatkaal fee has been spared for now. EXHIBITION
Spnning Fantasies

The Rehwa Society of Maheshwar, set up to support the weaving community of this Madhya Pradesh town, is holding an exhibition of handloom garments and handwoven fabrics at Delhi's Taj Palace. The Mughal Collection focuses on pastels and Mughal colours and has included some elements of Mughal design. The exhibition will be showcased on April 16, 17 and 18. For details call: (011) 4629592.

Creative Pursuits

Dhoomimal Art Centre, Connaught Place, Delhi, will be exhibiting a collection of paintings till April 19. "Half a Foot Square" includes works of 50 acknowledged artists who have shown at the centre earlier. Open seven days a week from 7 a.m. till midnight, the eatery offers a host of snacky food-burgers, pancakes, waffles and pies-in an ambience dominated by pictures of Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley and other American icons. There's even a juke box that works. TA2D also offers an interesting range of cocktails, mocktails, shakes, coffees and teas. The cheese cake is specially recommended.
