Rukhsat -- Shekhar Krishna Moorthy

(Magnasound; Rs 35)

To pay homage to the victims of the Uphaar tragedy and in memory of his two children who also died -- Unnati (17) and Ujjwal (13) -- Shekhar Krishnamoorthy has brought out this album of Hemant Kumar's remixes. Includes haunting numbers like Jane woh kaise, Rahi tu mat ruk jana, Rula kar chal diye and others. Shekhar's voice is extremely soothing. As the saying goes: when words fail, music speaks.

Sweetbox -- Shekhar Krishna Moorthy
(BMG Crescendo; Rs 125)

Remember the peppy Shakalaka and Booyah -- Here we go again? Well, this Germany-based band with Tina Harris in the lead, is back with another rap album that has some groovy numbers like I'll die for you and Everything gonna be alright. With its perfect blend of hip hop and pop, it's an ideal disco album. Dance the night away with it.

In search of Peace -- Gaurav Mazumdar
(Ton & Co; Stern Records: Rs 400)

To Celebrate India's 50th year of Independence, Mazumdar, Pandit Ravi Shankar's disciple, presents an afternoon raga -- Madhuwanti and an evening raga -- Charukeshi on the sitar. His music has remarkable depth. Accompanied by Akram Khan on the tabla, the album is powerful.
