Shehnai The shehnai, an ancient wind instrument, is a double-reeded flute (like an oboe) and is the most popular susir instrument in India. The shehanai is primarily played in temples during the mornings and evenings for what is considered an auspicious time by Hindus. More recently, perhaps because of the sweetness of the sound a shehanai produces, it has become a popular concert instrument as well. |
