"Fulfilment" is the first recording of mine, released
outside India. It was released in the USA by Nishaad Records, a Minneapolis based Company
in 1997. In this recording, I have played two traditional Ragas, the morning Raga
"Lalit" and the evening Raga "Maru-Bihag".
Many people have asked me as to why I called it "Fulfilment". Since this CD
was first released in the 50th year of Indias Independence, I felt like dedicating
it to this celebration, held all over the world. our music has undergone many changes in
the past 50 years and belonging to the new generation of artistes, I wanted to fulfill the
promise of continuing and spreading our great tradition. Hence, I called it
"Fulfilment".

A Journey Together
Audio Cassette: SR 99005
The recordings of Pandit Ravi Shankar and Ustad Ali
Akbar Khan together are perhaps the most well known duets in the history of Indian
classical music. Both the maestros studied at the same time under the same teacher, Baba
Allauddin Khan Saheb, and grew musically together. The bold sound of Sarod and the
pleasing sound of Sitar, the genius of each artist and the perfect understanding of each
others music have made their duets legendary. In keeping with this tradition, two
artists of the new generation, Partho Sarathy and Shubhendra Rao, who also studied and
lived together at the same time under the same teacher, Pandit Ravi Shankar, came together
in A Journey Together.
