Chakra is Rami Shapira. Rami, who is a DJ from Israel, started to work with alternative electronic music when he was 13. Chakra used to take part in the electronic music events in the legendary Tel-Aviv underground alternative club, The Penguin. Then he moved to Acid House in 1988 and into European trance.

He started to make psychedelic music and released a few tracks with Itzik Levy (Sandman, Resistance Activity, Psycho-toons) as "Witchcraft". Their first track was "Magic Frequencies", that left its mark on the psychedelic trance scene. Then came "Whale" and the legendary "Eastern Rain".

In 1996, Rami teamed up with Edi Mis to release one of the best trance CD's ever-The Promised Land. He also worked with Edi Mis on "X-File", "Liquid Troll", "Brain In The Box", "Hell Razor Puzzle" and "Final Mission".

In 1997, they released "Witchcraft Magic" which was originally made in 1993. After this, Rami released two tracks on his own, "Chakra-Spider" and "Chakra-Hallucinator".

After his album The Promised Land was released, he toured the world for more than a year. He spent a long time in Japan working on some projects, and came back with his own label, Optimus Records.

He released a new 12" vinyl/CD single, featuring liquid metal-"Resurrection" and "Search For God".

Looking at the response to trance in India, Rami decided to tour India. He recently performed in Mumbai at the Leela Hotel. Rami performed live with guitarist Romen Reznik and drummer Erez Koskas amidst special effects with smoke, gobos, mini-laser, scanners and strobes.

Recreating the underground Techno Trance House, the entire venue was transformed into trance zones with fluorescent 3-D cutouts, large paintscapes of trance, tantra art and images. The night captured the spirit of intensive psychedelic trance, where the ecstatic crowds experienced the hypnotic, unbridled rhythm of underground music.
